So, here are the 5 photos that I did. I tried to get the background more blurred in these, but my camera wasn't cooperating, and we were racing time. I'm pretty sure that my favorite ones are the two with the red brick behind him. Funny story... The picture against the red brick where his head is turned, I actually didn't plan that at all. He happened to look away right before I clicked the button and it turned out really good, I thought, so I kept it.

Framing, Lines, Pattern and Texture

Alright, here are my photos for these concepts:

This one with the brick is an example of pattern. It shows pattern with the pattern that the bricks are put in.

This is an example of line. The lines in the bricks of the building going up lead your eye to the lamp that it up there.

This one is framing. I was on the other side of a tree and used that to sort of frame this little building.

This one is texture. The wall that this was a part of was really cool, I thought, because it had a ton of texture like this and it was really interesting.

This is a pattern photo. The windows and also the rain drains make a pattern on the wall.

This is a line photo. The lines of bricks and also the line that the handrail makes lead your eye up to the door.

This is my other framing photo. I used trees again to frame the back of the library in Spanish Fork. It was hard to find things to frame and frames to do it with.

This last one is also texture. I liked this one because the line of brick was mostly all the same and everything, but then there was this one brick right here that was broken and different from the others. pretty cool.

Still Life Photos

So, here is my first still life. I took some others before this one but I liked this one the best. I have a few others down below these. For these still life pictures, the only light in the room was coming from the lighter. I wanted it to be really dark around the fire light, so I put my camera to the darkest setting. I also used macro settings for this.

Again, for this one I had it on a candle setting and very dark, plus the macro. I wish I had a mirror somewhere that didn't have a frame around it so I could get the reflection without a big thing right in the middle. I like this one though.

When I took this one, I though I would try adding another light in there just for fun. I think it turned out to be a pretty good still life. I had the same settings as all of the other photos. The one thing I didn't like about this one is that I couldn't ever get the candle light to not be blurry.

For this one, I tried the same sort of set up as the first picture, but this time from a different angle. I still had the same settings on this picture as the others. I like how there is a double point on the top of the flame.

I am pretty sure that this one is my favorite out of all the ones I took. It still has all the same settings but I tried to take it from down closer to the ground looking up at the lighter. I like how there is almost a glare where there is that circle of light in the middle. Sort of like when the camera looks at the sun in a movie and there are those circles of light that line up. I thought that was pretty cool. I also like the angle of this one and how crisp it is.

These last three are just some pictures that I took while I was doing the still life stuff. The server for moodle actually went down before I could see what the assignment actually was so I just started taking some still life stuff. When it came back up I saw that it had to be of all the same subject so I chose to use the lighter. I'm not sure if the dirt bike counts as a still life, but I liked that picture so I uploaded it. =D Enjoy!

Motion

Well, some of these worked the way I wanted and some didn't. The first one with the water is a little darker than I wanted it but that's okay. The next one two are just my brothers jumping on to the couch, and they worked about as well as I expected. Tho one after that with the fan I thought was pretty cool. It wasn't what I expected when I took the picture, but I like it better. After that is my brother running through the house. I tried panning on that one and it turned out well, I thought. The one with the helicopter was pretty good I thought. It showed that they wing were moving faster than everything else. After that is the one with the hood of a car. I tried panning with this one too. I was a little ahead of the whole car though so I only caught the hood. I felt sort of like a weird stalker person taking pictures of random cars. I tried to get a better panning one with other cars but it wasn't working so I gave up. Next is another one of my brothers on a swing. I like this one because he is clear and everything else is blurred because of the motion, even my other brother in the background. Next I did one of these bar things that are on the playground in my yard. They were sort of blowing in the wind. The last one I was just dropping dirt I was trying to get it so the dirt was clear and the background was blurred but it was pretty hard.

David Hockney Photo Collage

I decided to use my snowboard for this because there is a ton of stuff on it and I thought that it would be fun to piece it all back together. It was super fun doing this except for the fact that i had to resize all the pics and it took a while to do. That's okay though, because it was super awesome fun. Plus I (sort of) get to show off my awesome board! =P

Brush Tutorial

I decided to use this picture with the brush tutorial thing because I wanted to kind of make it look like a little kid drew on the wall. Then I just sort of started adding a bunch of stuff to it just for fun.

Black and White

This first picture I better in black and white because you aren't distracted by all the colors around the image but you are able to better focus on just the glass of Coke instead. Plus, I didn't have any coke so that is really just blue and green food coloring in water with crushed ice. I think that this was enhanced by being put in black and white.

For this one, I think that it is better in black and white because you don't have to notice all of the details in black and white. Also, when you do notice details they are easier to see because the color of them isn't getting in the way. Even though my sheets (the cloth under my knife) are red and they looked cool with the black on my knife, I think it is easier to pay attention to the subject of the photo in black and white.

I really think that the marbles look better in black and white because they have all sorts of colors on them and that would have been very distracting to the viewer. The black and white help you look past what is on the marbles and seeing the whole picture at once.

I think that this one is better in black and white because of two reasons. First, it just looks cool, and secondly there is a bunch of stains (not from me) on the door. Being in black and white makes it so I don't have to find a perfectly clean door to put the tie on, making the photography easier.

This one looks better in black and white because it is a picture of a vinyl and those were mostly in the good old black and white days. There was also weird colors reflecting off of the surface of the vinyl and it would've looked funny in color.

Camera Modes

Here are the five camera modes and pictures that I picked:

This first one is in sports mode. This mode worked the best for this photo because in sports mode my camera was able to take the picture fast enough to catch my brother in midair.

I took this picture in pet mode. There wasn't that much of a difference with or without pet mode, but with this mode the picture of my dog was a little clearer and more detailed.

I took this photo in document mode. This mode is good for this shot because it helps make the text on the page more clear and separated from the background.

You can probably guess that this was taken in portrait mode. This mode is the best for taking pictures of people because it focuses in more on the person instead of everything around them.

This picture was taken in landscape mode. This was the best mode for this picture because it is a picture of a landscape, and because it takes better landscape pictures than other modes.

Around Town Photo Assignment

Here are the pictures that I got for this assignment. If you are wondering about the blurry one, that is my walking person. I sort of tried to do a Bigfoot type picture, like that one famous one where nobody really knows if its a guy in a gorilla suit or if it's really Bigfoot. That's what I was going for. I hope that works.. Oh, and the doll... well he's sort of creepy but it's one of the only ones in my house since we have a house full of boys.

Cropping a Photo

Here are the two photos. The first is the uncropped, and I chose it just because I thought it was a cool picture. I took it a while ago in my backyard. I cropped it the way I did because I liked how the berry looked in the picture and then all the others around it in the crop make it look like the best berry.

I didn't see that the assignment said to use pics that where taken for other photography assignments so here one that I used for the last assignment. I'll leave the berries though because they're cool too. I chose this picture because I didn't really see how I could crop any of the others to still look good. I cropped it this way because it looked good with the one flower that was in focus and and turned toward you and the other less focused and in other directions.
